I made three projects last week for three different clients and, strangely enough, each was embroidered in blue.
I love the idea of a monogram. You can see them throughout history on clothing and on linens. You are always looking for your initials, aren’t you, at the flea markets when you see the lovely old handwoven linen sheets.
This is my first monogram.
I exploded the size more than a little bit and chose a white linen to do this experiment. This initial group measures 8″ x 9″.
I’m making this for my friend Kristeen Church.
I think she’ll like it.
Next, I was introduced to a young woman in Aspen who is getting married this summer. She wanted me to embroider a handkerchief to give to her father as he walks her down the aisle at her wedding.
She sent me the handkerchief and I tested the script on the yellow sheer so we could approve the placement.
What a sweet sentiment! Lucky girl!
And then Kelly asked me to make a pillow for her cat. Louise likes to hide and sleep in the closet. My dog Tiny likes to sleep in the closet too, but he doesn’t have a pillow with his name on it………….poor Tiny.
Monograms……….love them.
