Eric Banh opened his first restaurant, Monsoon, in Seattle in 1999. He followed that ten years later with his second, Monsoon East across the lake in Bellevue.
Eric called Chris to build the interior of this elegant space and more importantly, he was asked to build this door.
Chris has always tried to steer clear of trends. Old reclaimed wood, distressed finishes, Nakashima knockoffs are not Chris’s thing. But, when the designer sketched this door for Chris to build it ignited a spark.
Chris combined old and new wood in the fabrication of this door with an eye to refinement. This was the first of Chris’s amazing doors.
Chris built the bar using the live edge of the elm tree slabs.
The back bar.
The inside of the entry door.
Eric found several antique panels that Chris built in with giant timbers.
Chris also built all the tables.
The host stand.
A world class restaurant………….a beautiful interior.

wow, Kathi, this is stunning..I love how the door has a slight influence of Asian aesthetic…to me it has a timelessness quality about it…and the interior is magnificent… what an experience…the color palette is sophisticated yet organic..again, that timelessness quality..
simply stunning..
