Trim

I love trim on lampshades………….even when trends dictate otherwise.

My lampshades have always been trimmed, old or new, I love it all.

The trimming is now evolving.  Last year I got rid of box loads of trim, years and years of collecting.  Boring, boring, boring.

I’m going to make my trim.  The lampshades on this pair of lamps is made with the same Henry Calvin linen sheer which I used on the chandelier shades I made last week.  But this time I backed the sheer with an underlining.

I cut bias strips of the linen and picked the fringe with a blunt needle.  Mary chose the colors of the wool yarn to compliment the bedroom she is designing.

I made six yards of trim……..about ten hours.

Worked out very well, I think.

Here are a few more examples of my embroidered trim.

I used a Travers linen on this one.

Same Traver’s linen here.  I cut the strip, picked the fringe and then washed the piece before I embroidered it.

I embroidered the linen on these before I sewed it to the frames.

Mary Hansen also designed these lamps.  The sculptures are by Debra Fritts.  I used the Henry Calvin linen sheer on these also but in an off white.

I used very minimal embroidery stitches on this trim.

The back yard is wonderful this spring, it was nice to work outside this weekend, finally a break in the rain.
